What is university?

Although they recieve public funding, universities are independent bodies, unrelated to the government.
The UK is home to two of the best universities in the world, Cambridge and Oxford.
These universities have long since stood above all others, with a long history; world changing research and their phenomenal academic excellence.

What is the tuition fee for a UK university?
UK Student tuition
For an undergraduate degree, UK students typically pay upto £9,250 per year.
For a postgraduate degree, UK students will typically pay between £5,000-£7,000 per year.
To qualify as a UK student, you must meet the residency rule, you must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years (before study)
International Student tuition
For an undergraduate degree, international students typically pay between £11,400 - £38,000 per year, averaging at £22,000 per year.
For a postgraduate degree, International students will typically pay between £16,000 - £20,000 per year.
What are university entry requirements?
College degrees and university
In most cases, college is a requirement in order to attend univerisity (under the age of 21).
Students who have completed A-levels (or equivalent for internationals students), meet the minimum requirements to attend college.
Although, this is not always the case. Students who have completed A-levels or other secondary school qualifications (such as the International Baccalaureate) also meet the minimum requirements for univerity entry.
Furthermore, students ages 21 or higher (with work experience) may apply to univeristy by undertaking special tests without A-levels (or college)!
Maths and English
United Kingdom
For most UK universities, Maths and English are required subjects. With most universities asking for a minimum of grade 4/C in Maths and English, many students strive to do their best each and every year.
More prestigious universities such as oxford, may require higher Maths and English grades, as well as their other foundation and/or subject specific requirements!
International
International students, if tests prior were not taken in English, have to undertake English exams, meeting English test scores of IELTS/TOEFL (at the minimum) to demonstrate language proficiency, in order to study in most univeristies!
Subject specific grades & requirements
Universities all have different and unique entry requirements on each course.
These entry requirements often range from asking for 5 subjects to be at a grade 4/c or higher as well as 2 or more a levels at a pass or higher.
